Un domaine marqué

Fri, 06 Nov 2026 20:56:08 -0500

Oui!

The problem with traditional typing tests.”

Introducing WPM: A Literary Typing Test That Makes Practice Meaningful

Try WPM now →

Here’s a little app I “vibe coded” a couple days ago. WPM stands for Words Per Minute and its goal is to provide metrics for your progress in learning how to type faster. It’s a typing test aimed at improving your speed when writing on a keyboard.

I’ve always been a fan of this type of application, and many good ones already exist (TypeQuicker, AOEU, MonkeyType, ZType, etc.). I was curious to know what “my” app would look and feel like if I ever decided to create one, and what spin I would be able to give mine so it stands apart.

I have started streaming Tsumego

Thu, 13 Feb 2025 15:40:20 -0500

During my recent job search, I have had some downtime. This gave me the opportunity to explore my hobbies in novel ways. For a long time, I have been a fan of the game of Go, but I was never really practicing it. Unfortunately, it’s hard to improve without practice.

Over the years, I discovered that I can hack my brain into being focused on an activity by filming myself doing it and pretending there’s an audience watching. Strange, right? But, what can I tell you… It just works for me!

One Hundred Book Reviews Later

Fri, 20 Dec 2024 21:51:36 -0500

As I posted my hundredth book review yesterday—a reflection on Cal Newport’s Deep Work—I found myself pausing to contemplate how reading hasn’t just filled my time, but fundamentally transformed my life. That number, one hundred, marks an important milestone that I’d like to celebrate by looking back on my experience reading and reviewing so many books.

How did this journey begin?

It must be said that I began this journey very hesitantly. I have always been reading at least one book per year, if only to keep myself entertained while my phone’s battery was dead, but the idea of reviewing books germinated slowly in my brain.

Strategies PME

Product Manager VS Product Owner VS Scrum Master

Thu, 05 Sep 2024 13:43:12 -0400

The roles of Product Manager, Product Owner, and Scrum Master each play distinct roles in product development, particularly in Agile environments. Here’s a breakdown of each role:

Product Manager

Focus: Strategic vision and overall product success.
Responsibilities:
- Defines the product vision, strategy, and roadmap.
- Works closely with stakeholders, customers, and executives to understand market needs.
- Prioritizes features and ensures the product aligns with business goals.
- Manages the product lifecycle from conception to launch and beyond.
- Often responsible for the business outcomes of the product, including profitability, market share, and customer satisfaction.

Product Owner

Focus: Execution and delivery of the product vision.
Responsibilities:
- Acts as a bridge between the Product Manager and the development team.
- Owns the product backlog, including writing user stories, prioritizing tasks, and ensuring the team understands the requirements.
- Works with the development team daily to clarify requirements and ensure that the product meets user needs.
- Makes decisions on what features to develop next and what can be deferred.
- Often focused on maximizing the value delivered by the team.

Scrum Master

Focus: Facilitating the Scrum process and team efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures the Scrum framework is followed by the team.
- Facilitates Scrum ceremonies like daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and sprint reviews.
- Helps remove obstacles that hinder the team’s progress.
- Works as a coach and mentor to the team, fostering a collaborative and productive environment.
- Protects the team from external interruptions and ensures they stay focused on sprint goals.

Key Differences:

Scope: The Product Manager is concerned with the “what” and “why” at a strategic level, while the Product Owner deals with the “what” and “when” at a tactical level. The Scrum Master focuses on “how” the team works and ensures the process runs smoothly.
Market vs. Development: The Product Manager is often market-facing, ensuring the product fits customer needs and business goals. The Product Owner is more development-facing, working closely with the team to build the product. The Scrum Master is process-oriented, ensuring the team operates efficiently.
Decision-Making: The Product Manager makes high-level strategic decisions, the Product Owner makes day-to-day tactical decisions about the product, and the Scrum Master facilitates decisions by ensuring effective communication and processes.

The Bic Cristal Story

Mon, 01 Jul 2024 18:40:01 -0400

This is a story of how investing $6 in my learning gear made a big difference.

For the longest time, I did not care about the writing material I used. I was perfectly content with whatever pen I’d find on the ground or have given to me by my family, my friends, or my workplace.

Star Quotes

Introduction

Star Quotes are what I am left with when I finish reading a book. Whenever I add a new book in my bookshelf, I make sure to include the Star Quotes from that book in there, next to a review (example).

This book is a compilation of my thoughts about some of my favorite Star Quotes.

If you would like to dive deeper into the quotes of a book, you may click the link to the review (located under each image). Maybe you’ll find a Star Quote of your own in there!

Thank you Benoit Dicaire for telling me about this cool open source functionality. 😄
